An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 on the Richter scale was recorded this morning, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said.
The earthquake was recorded at the mainland seismic network stations at 03:37.
The epicenter was located about 45 kilometers south-southwest of Deserta Grande, the IPM added in a statement, which stressed that until the note was written “no information was received confirming that (…) it was felt”.
Deserta Grande is the largest island of the sub-archipelago of the Desertas Islands, part of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
