The French pilgrim who suffered an accident at the place where she was staying to participate in World Youth Day (WYD) died and the Pope celebrated a Mass today at the Apostolic Nunciature in Lisbon, where relatives of the victim were present, the Holy See press office announced.
“Pope Francis celebrated this morning at the Nunciature, where four relatives of a 62-year-old French woman, a catechetical animator, who came to Lisbon for WYD and who died in recent days following an accident in the house where she was staying, were present,” the same source revealed.
On Tuesday, WYD Foundation spokeswoman Rosa Pedroso Lima said that a French pilgrim, who was in Portugal to participate in the event, suffered an accident at the place where she was staying and had to be hospitalized.
“Together with the health authorities, the organization is monitoring the evolution of the clinical situation of this pilgrim who is hospitalized,” the spokeswoman stressed at the time, stating that the situation was delicate, which is why the organization would not provide further information.
