Turismo Centro de Portugal (TCP) was again consecrated yesterday as the best tourism region in the country

Turismo Centro de Portugal (TCP) was again consecrated yesterday as the best tourism region in the country, during the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2023 ceremony, which took place in Alcobaça. It is the fourth time, and third consecutive, that Centro de Portugal wins this important distinction.

TCP was nominated in the “National Tourism Region” category, as were the other tourist regions in the country, and was the big winner of the night, as it had already been in 2015 and in the two most recent editions, in 2019 and 2022.

It should be noted that a hotel unit from the Central region of Portugal – the Octant Lousã – also won in the category in which it was a candidate, the “Best Four-Star Hotel”.

“It is a pride to lead an entity that, for the third consecutive edition of the Publturis Awards, is considered the best tourism region in the country. It is the corollary of the work of more than a decade, which now sees its fruits, and is also evidence of the great notoriety that the Centro de Portugal region has achieved. Today, Centro de Portugal is seen by its peers as a mature and exemplary tourist destination”, underlines Pedro Machado, who received the award.

“There is an extraordinary team that works every day at Turismo do Centro to make the region grow, both in management and through our technicians spread throughout the region. This award is theirs. I also want to thank the municipalities, which over the years have made a decisive bet in structuring tourism, making their territories more attractive, and also the companies and businessmen of the region, an example of which is the Octant Lousã, also awarded today. Without them there is no tourist activity,” he adds.

Known as the “Tourism Oscars” in Portugal, the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards annually reward the best companies, institutions, services and professionals that stand out in the tourism sector. The 18th edition of the awards, organized annually by Publituris newspaper, had 174 nominees who competed in a total of 22 categories. The nominees were found by the Publituris editorial staff, but the winners were voted for by the jury, subscribers to the paper edition and subscribers to the newspaper’s daily newsletter.
