Three police officers arrested in Porto on suspicion of drug trafficking, malfeasance and embezzlement

Three police officers were arrested today by the PSP on suspicion of drug trafficking, embezzlement and malfeasance, revealed the Metropolitan Command of the PSP of Porto, which determined the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.

The operation included three house searches.

“The PSP immediately determined the initiation of disciplinary proceedings,” the PSP said in a statement.

According to this police, this operation took place “an investigation (…) on the crimes of drug trafficking, embezzlement and malfeasance, and in fulfillment of arrest warrants out of flagrante delicto”.

“[The PSP] arrested three police officers, suspected of committing these offenses, who were working in the Metropolitan Command of Porto”, adds this police.

In the statement, the PSP does not specify where these three policemen work, but the daily Correio da Manhã writes that the three detainees belong to the Rapid Intervention Teams of the PSP of Porto and that the investigation is led by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC).

The detainees will be brought before the Judicial Authorities for 1st interrogation, and the investigation is under judicial secrecy.
