SEF detains suspect of aiding illegal immigration at Lisbon airport

The SEF announced this Wednesday the arrest at Lisbon airport of a man for “strong evidence” of aiding illegal immigration to try to facilitate entry into Portugal of two women from West Africa.

In a statement, the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) said the man, a passenger on a flight originating in Guinea-Conakry and in transit to France, presented himself at border control with two young women, about 20 years, “both with fraudulent documentation and a fictitious story to deceive the Portuguese border authorities.

SEF also points out that, during the course of criminal proceedings, several documents and telecommunications equipment related to the practice of illicit.

According to this security service, the man, 43 years old, was arrested “for strong evidence” of crimes of aiding illegal immigration and forgery of documents.

The SEF also states that the detainee was presented to the judge of criminal instruction and was released upon application of the measures of coercion of Term of Identity and Residence and payment of a cash bond.
