A 13-year-old boy, of German nationality, suffered “a fracture in the lower limbs, following a dive from a cliff, at Carvalho beach, in the municipality of Lagoa”, having been rescued this Friday afternoon by the Ferragudo Life Saving Station, according to a statement from the National Maritime Authority.
Following an alert received at 15:30, through 112, informing of the fall of a person on a cliff, elements of the Local Command of the Portimão Maritime Police, crew members of the Ferragudo Life Saving Station, a team of INEM’s Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER), elements of the Lagos Volunteer Firefighters and the Lifeguards on duty at the beach were immediately activated.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that “the victim, a 13-year-old boy, was conscious, having been promptly stabilized by elements of INEM and the Portimão Volunteer Fire Department”.
The young man was later rescued and transported to the Ferragudo pier, by the Ferragudo Life Saving Station vessel, where he was waiting for an INEM ambulance, which transported him to a hospital unit.
The Local Command of the Portimão Maritime Police took charge of the occurrence.
