The Portuguese-flagged maritime-tourist vessel was traveling about 24 kilometers northwest of Cabo Carvoeiro.
Two people we rerescued from a vessel with a fire on board, northwest of Cabo Carvoeiro, by the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), in conjunction with the Peniche Port Captain, on Tuesday.
The Portuguese-flagged maritime-tourist vessel was traveling about 15 miles, equivalent to about 24 kilometers, northwest of Cape Carvoeiro, according to a statement from the Portuguese Navy to which Notícias ao Minuto had access.
“The request for assistance arrived at MRCC Lisboa through the coastal control service ‘Roca Control’, where the presence of a fire outbreak on board the vessel was reported,” said the entity, in the same note.
A speedboat from the Instituto de Socorro a Náufragos was activated to the site, and, at 9:35 pm, the “vessel docked at the Port of Peniche with the help of the fishing vessel ‘Armindo Manuel'”, according to the Portuguese Navy.
