Banco Montepio’s net profit almost triples to 67.8 ME in the 1st half of the year

Banco Montepio achieved recurring consolidated net income of 67.8 million euros in the first half, 44.5 million euros more than in the same period of 2022 (23.3 million euros), it was announced today.

In a statement released today, Banco Montepio reports that the Common Equity Tier 1 ratio and the Total Capital ratio (fully implemented) reached 14.4% and 17.1%, respectively.

Banco Montepio stated that “the favorable evolution of recurring results was determined by the increase in banking income, supported by the positive variation in net interest income and commissions”.

“Following the significant reduction in non-performing assets, the strengthening of capital ratios and the success recorded in meeting the objectives of the operational adjustment plan, the rating agencies have attributed successive rating increases to Banco Montepio, with Fitch, in particular, increasing the rating of Banco Montepio’s senior unsecured debt three consecutive times in 12 months”, says Banco Montepio.

The results were sent in a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
