More than 100 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Santarém, Leiria, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Porto, Coimbra, Viseu, Braga, Porto, Vila Real and Bragança are in maximum danger of rural fire, according to the IPMA.

The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) has also placed more than 50 municipalities in the districts of Braga, Vila Real, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon, Portalegre, Beja, Évora and Faro in very high danger.

Other counties in all the mainland districts, except Viana do Castelo, are in high danger of fire today.

Because of the weather conditions, the fire danger will remain high until at least Tuesday.

This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to maximum, and the calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and the amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The IPMA is forecasting medium to high cloudy skies on the mainland today, with the possibility of scattered precipitation towards the end of the day, a drop in temperature, except on the coast of the southern region, and more intense wind on the west coast and in the highlands.

Minimum temperatures will vary between 14 degrees Celsius (in Braga) and 27 (in Faro) and maximum temperatures between 24 (in Porto) and 40 (in Beja).
