A forest fire in Vila Cova à Coelheira, in Vila Nova de Paiva, in the district of Viseu, which started at 11:30 a.m., was being fought at 12:20 p.m. by seven aircraft, a Civil Protection source revealed today.
According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), the fire started around 11:30 and was still raging in the forest at 12:20, being fought by seven aircraft, 79 operatives and 18 vehicles.
The same source pointed out that other resources had also been called to the scene and were on their way, namely a reinforcement group from the Serra da Estrela area.
At 12:40 p.m., the ANEPC website reported that 112 men and 29 vehicles had been deployed to the fire.
