Bragança, Viseu, Guarda and Vila Real are under a yellow warning until 10:00 am today due to the cold weather forecast, said the Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA).
The alert issued by the IPMA indicated that these northern Portuguese districts face “persistently low minimum temperatures”.
The IPMA predicted that temperatures could drop to -3°C in Bragança and -2°C in Vila Real and Guarda, according to the alert that went into effect at 01:53.
The forecast pointed to a “small drop in the maximum temperature, more pronounced in the central region”, as well as the “formation of frost, especially in the interior”, with “the possibility of snowfall in the highest points of the Serra da Estrela and in the mountains of the far north above 1,000 meters of altitude from the afternoon onwards”.
