The Porto City Council is launching a communication campaign to give more visibility to Porto blocks such as Bonfim, Foz or Bombarda, with the aim of dispersing tourist flows in the city.
“We’re also going to carry out a communication campaign, meetings to discuss the problems of human resources in the sector, the work of the blocks, we’re finding a solution to disperse the flows and give prominence to contents that are within these blocks that already exist, such as Bonfim, Foz, Bombarda,” Catarina Cunha, the councillor for Tourism and Internationalization at Porto City Hall, told Lusa today.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of ‘BOOST – Building Better Future’, which is taking place today at the Casa da Música in Porto, city councillor Catarina Cunha explained that Porto City Council was taking advantage of the event to present the vision map for tourism in the city of Porto.
“We took advantage of this event in Porto, which we support with great pleasure, with a very relevant theme which is the future of tourism, innovation and purpose, and it is exactly what we are doing in terms of tourism management in the city and, therefore, we took advantage of this moment to present the vision map for tourism in the city of Porto, in which we review what we did in September 2022, which was the presentation of a vision and now we want to present with all transparency the activities that we are doing” and that meet this “strategy that we have defined”.
According to Catarina Martins, there are more than 20 active activities and the municipality wants to showcase them and appeal to the whole city to take part.
“We can highlight all the qualification actions, that is, Confiança Porto is a highly relevant seal that we have extended beyond tourist accommodation to pedestrian and monitored tours, so we want to have a city seal that is relevant and recognized,” he said.
Catarina Cunha said, for example, that the Bonfim area can no longer be said to be fashionable, because it is a “teeming, creative hub”, but it needs to be given visibility.
“If you talk to any international he knows everything that’s going on there, but we want to give visibility with the tools we have, with Visit Porto, the card that allows you to travel around the city on transport and cultural structures.
