Augusto Santos Silva leaves RA, AD and arrives with an MP from Outside Europe

Augusto Santos Silva will sit out the next parliamentary term, according to the results of the elections for the Out of Europe constituency, which AD won, gaining one MP, as did Chega, the Electoral Administration revealed.

AD won the March 10 legislative elections in this constituency, obtaining 22.90% (22,636 votes), followed by Chega, with 18.27% and 18,067 votes.

José Cesário (AD) and Manuel Magno (Chega) were elected from this constituency.

The PS was the third most voted party, with 14.58% (14,410 votes), a result that leaves current president Augusto Santos Silva out of Parliament.

In this constituency, eight consulates were counted and 98,866 of the 609,436 registered voters were registered.

The PAN obtained 2.36% of the votes, IL 1.92%, BE 1.87%, Nova Direita 1.48%, ADN 1.14%, PCP-PEV 0.76%, Livre 0.70%, Volt 0.28%, Nós Cidadãos 0.26%, JPP 0.20%, RIR 0.19%, Ergue-te 0.12% and MPT.A 0.10%.

32.38% of the votes were invalid.

Paulo Pisco (PS) and José Dias Fernandes (Chega) were elected for the Europe constituency

Chega was the winner of the elections abroad, obtaining 18.30% of the votes, which guarantees two MPs: one for the Europe constituency and one for the Outside Europe constituency.

AD was the second most voted force (16.79% of the votes), winning one MP (Out of Europe circle).

The PS won 15.73% of the vote and one MEP for Europe.

The final results were announced today, following the registration and counting of 334,005 ballots, which took place between Monday and Wednesday at the Lisbon Congress Center.

At the end of the count, the spokesman for the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Fernando Anastácio, told Lusa that there had been an increase in voter turnout abroad, of around 30%, confirming that the number of invalid votes was around 40%.

Fernando Anastácio also confirmed the election of two Chega MPs, one PS MP and one PSD MP in the two constituencies.
