Portugal’s national team does last training session and travels to Slovenia

Portugal is holding its final training session today at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, and will travel to Ljubljana in the afternoon, where it will play Slovenia on Tuesday in preparation for Euro2024.

The Portuguese team has a session scheduled for 10:00, with the first 15 minutes open to the media.

On Sunday, midfielder Matheus Nunes was absent from training due to a foot problem, while goalkeeper Diogo Costa returned to work and integrated with the rest of his teammates, after missing the match against Sweden (5-2) due to physical problems.

The Portuguese squad leaves for Slovenia at 14:30 and at 18:30 (19:30 local time), coach Roberto Martínez and a player yet to be named will preview the match in a press conference at the Stozice Stadium, which will be the venue for the game.

The first Slovenia-Portugal game in history is scheduled for 19:45 (20:45) and will be refereed by Irfan Peljto from Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Portugal will have three more preparation matches before taking part in this year’s European Championship, all on home soil, with Finland at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, Croatia at the National Stadium in Oeiras and the Republic of Ireland in Aveiro on June 4, 8 and 11 respectively.

The ‘Quinas’ are in Group F of Euro2024, where they will face Turkey, the Czech Republic and the winner of path C of the play-offs (Georgia or Greece).

The opening game of the European Championship is scheduled for June 18, with the Czechs in Leipzig, followed by the duels with the Turks in Dortmund on June 22 and the play-off opponents in Gelsenkirchen on June 26.

The 2024 European Championship will take place in Germany between June 14 and July 14.
