The Minister of the Presidency announced today that the Council of Ministers has begun preparing the government’s program, and repeated the executive’s intention to complete the 4.5 years of the legislature “with humble dialogue”.
At the press conference at the end of the first Council of Ministers of the XXIV Constitutional, António Leitão Amaro did not clarify whether the executive intends to present an Amending Budget, nor whether it will request a postponement of the deadline for submitting the Stability Program, scheduled for mid-April.
“We understand your curiosity, but the answers to each of these legitimate questions will come and will be passed on to the Portuguese at the right time,” he said.
The Minister for the Presidency also did not clarify whether or not the government’s program will be exactly the same as the electoral program with which the AD coalition (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) ran in the elections), nor when a decision will be taken on the new Lisbon airport.
“About 12 hours after the government was sworn in, we started working on a government of change for the Portuguese, a humble and dialoguing government that intends to carry out the structural transformation of the country in four and a half years,” he said.
