University of Coimbra challenges high school students to programming and entrepreneurship competition

The Shift Academy is a programming and entrepreneurship competition in which teams of two to four have 48 hours to develop an Artificial Intelligence model.

The computer science student group of the Coimbra Academic Association and the Junior Enterprise (jeKnowledge) of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra are organizing the Shift Academy, a programming and entrepreneurship competition for secondary school students who want to develop a project on artificial intelligence for 48 hours. The event takes place from April 19 to 21 at the C.F. União de Coimbra pavilion.

The Shift Academy challenge will consist of developing an Artificial Intelligence model for a virtual arena with robots. The projects will be presented by the students to the judges.

In a statement, the organization explains that “during the event, participants will have the opportunity to attend numerous talks and workshops, and will also be able to benefit from mentoring so that they feel supported in carrying out their projects”.

The event is in its 10th edition and has 1,193 participants and more than 200 projects created. The Shift Academy also has the support of Coimbra City Council, the University of Coimbra, TUMO Coimbra and The Amazing Lab, and was also awarded the First Foundation Project prize, an initiative of Feedzai and the University of Coimbra.
