Contest to go ahead and tax authorities hope to have 180 new inspectors in place by September

The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) announced today that it will launch a competition for 180 new tax and customs inspectors, who are expected to start work in the second half of September.

This competition is aimed at candidates who are part of the recruitment reserve of a competition launched in February 2022, with the AT noting that during the trial period the remuneration of these new workers corresponds to the 3rd salary position (level 27 of the tax and customs inspection and audit career – IATA), which is equivalent to the current value of 1,969.98 euros.

This remuneration is maintained “after definitive entry into the career” (i.e. after the probationary period), the same information states, adding that “to the basic remuneration is added the value of the supplement […] due after one year in the AT”.

It should be noted that civil servants also receive six euros a day as a meal allowance.

As part of the start of this recruitment process, the AT points out that candidates “will be contacted in the next few days” (to the e-mail address they provided in their application), but points out that those who have been approved, have withdrawn and/or, having been appointed, have not accepted the appointment or have not shown up to take up their duties, “cannot now be recruited”.

With regard to those who meet the requirements to take part in the competition to fill the 180 vacancies and who will be contacted shortly, the AT warns that if they are working, they should only give notice of termination of their contract to their employer (if they work in the private sector) or notify their service of origin (if they work in the public administration) “after the Notice has been published on the Finance Portal with the indication of the order of appointment and date of commencement of duties”.

These new employees will be appointed on a permanent basis.
