Kamasi Washington brings music from “Fearless Movement” to Lisbon and Porto in October

American multi-instrumentalist Kamasi Washington returns to Portugal in October for two concerts, in Lisbon and Porto, as part of the European tour to present the album “Fearless Movement”, to be released in May.

According to the promoter of the shows, in a statement released today, Kamasi Washington will perform on October 8 in Lisbon, at the Coliseu dos Recreios, and on October 9 in Porto, at the Hard Club.

The concerts in Portugal will take place as part of the tour to present the musician’s new album, “Fearless Movement”, which is due for release on May 3 and of which two songs have already been released: “Dream State”, with the collaboration of Andre 3000, and “Prologue”.

The album also features, among others, singers George Clinton and BJ The Chicago Kid, musician Thundercat, rapper D-Smoke and Taj and Ras Austin, from the hip-hop collective Coast Contra.

“Fearless Movement” follows “Heaven and Earth”, released in 2018. Before that, the musician had released “The Epic” in 2015 and “Harmony of Difference” in 2017.

He also wrote the soundtrack for Michelle Obama’s documentary “Becoming”, which earned him Emmy and Grammy nominations, and formed the collective Dinner Party with musicians Roberts Glasper, Terrace Martin and 9th Wonder, whose eponymous debut EP was also nominated for a Grammy.

He has collaborated with artists and bands such as Ibeyi, Run The Jewels, Kendrick Lamar, Florence & The Machine and Herbie Hancock.

Tickets for Kamasi Washington’s October concerts in Portugal cost between 35 and 40 euros and will go on sale from Friday.
