A Guinea-Bissau prosecutor was arrested for alleged drug trafficking on arrival in Lisbon on a flight from Bissau, the country’s Public Prosecutor’s Office announced today in a statement sent to Lusa.
The Public Relations Office of the Guinea-Bissau Public Prosecutor’s Office does not cite the name of the person concerned, but only says that it was informed “through appropriate channels” on Sunday, the 21st, of the “arrest of a magistrate for alleged drug trafficking”.
“The directorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office then called and held a meeting with the deputy attorneys-general, informing them of the arrest of the magistrate in question in Lisbon,” it adds.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said it was monitoring the case and waiting for more information and, if “the alleged crime is confirmed”, it promises to hold the magistrate criminally and disciplinarily responsible.
