Portugal beats Sweden to 11th place in European women’s under-20 basketball tournament

The Portuguese under-20 women’s basketball team finished in 11th place in Division A of the European Championship today, beating Sweden by a clear 70-53 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

At the Jeep Arena, the ‘quinas’, who had already secured their place in the top division, outplayed the Scandinavians in every quarter (19-11, 24-21, 14-12 and 13-9), in a game that was already well in hand at the halfway point (43-32).

Gabriela Falcão, with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists, stood out for the Portuguese team, followed by Fatumata Djaló, with 11 points, Laura Silva, with nine, Maria Inês Neto, with eight, and Leonor Peixinho Neves, with seven.

In the Swedish team, which finished in 12th place, the best was Tilda Trygger, with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
