A fire broke out this Sunday in the extraction duct of a restaurant at Largo de Santa Bárbara, in Anjos, Lisbon. The flames then spread to the ceiling of the first floor, forcing the building to be “evacuated as a precaution,” according to the Lisbon Municipal Civil Protection Service.
The flames were quickly extinguished by the Lisbon Fire Department. However, the street remains closed.
Damages are being assessed, as well as the habitability conditions of the first floor. The property owner has already assured that he will take responsibility for the building’s recovery and potential relocation of residents.
The alert was given around 12:00 PM, and there are no reports of injuries.
The Lisbon Fire Department indicated that nine vehicles and 34 operatives are at the scene, along with Civil Protection, Public Security Police (PSP), and Municipal Police.
