The data indicates that on Saturday, two pregnant women were referred, and on Sunday, one pregnant woman was referred and transported to private hospitals with which the National Health Service (SNS) has a protocol, namely CUF, Luz, and Lusíadas in Lisbon.
Contacted by Lusa news agency, the Local Health Unit of Loures-Odivelas, which includes the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, explained that the three pregnant women were transferred to private hospitals, “fulfilling the need to manage SNS [National Health Service] vacancies.”
During the weekend, five Gynecology and Obstetrics emergency services were closed, mostly in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.
According to the emergency schedules published on the SNS Portal at 2:45 PM today, five emergency services remain closed, namely at São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal, Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital in Barreiro, São Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon, Caldas da Rainha Hospital, and Santo André Hospital in Leiria.
This week, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday will be the days with the most Gynecology emergency services closed (seven in total).
At Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon and Garcia de Orta Hospital in Almada, only referred cases will be received, meaning they are reserved for internal emergencies, cases referred by the Urgent Patient Guidance Centers (CODU) of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), and by the SNS 24 helpline.
The Executive Board of the SNS urges the population to “always call the SOS Pregnant Helpline [808 24 24 24] before going to a Gynecology emergency service.”
