This year’s edition of ‘La Vuelta’ will have three stages in Portuguese territory, starting on Saturday with a 12-kilometer time trial, departing from the Jerónimos Monastery (Lisbon) and finishing at Praia da Torre (Oeiras). It will continue on Sunday between Cascais and Ourém, and on Monday from Lousã to Castelo Branco.

Due to the Spanish race and the Pedala Portugal Bike Tour Lisboa/Oeiras 2024, the Lisbon municipality announced several traffic restrictions in the capital, including the interruption of traffic circulation in Praça do Império, Avenida da Índia, Avenida de Brasília, and adjacent areas from Wednesday to Saturday.

Traffic constraints will affect Avenida de Brasília (Algés-Lisbon direction) from 8 AM Monday to midnight Sunday, with the right lane reserved for tourist bus stops between Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Belém Ferry Station. The Torre de Belém area will be heavily restricted from 8 AM Wednesday to 9 PM Thursday.

In Praça do Império, traffic will be restricted between Rua D. Lourenço de Almeida and Largo dos Jerónimos from 8 AM Thursday to midnight Sunday, with traffic diverted to Rua Bartolomeu Dias, Av. do Restelo, and Rua dos Jerónimos.

Access to several streets connecting to Av. da Índia will be prohibited, including Rua Damião de Góis, Travessa do Forte da Areia, and others. Various road closures will occur throughout the event period.

Public transportation will also be affected from 8 AM Thursday to 11 PM Saturday, with significant impacts on Carris fleet operations and tram routes.

In Oeiras, several parking areas will be closed, and Avenida Marginal will be partially closed in both directions between specific points from 8 AM Friday to 1 AM Sunday.

Additional events include the presentation of ‘La Vuelta’ teams and cyclists at Jardim da Torre de Belém on August 15 at 5 PM, ‘La Vuelta’ Juvenil on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, and the Pedala Portugal Bike Tour on Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM.

In Cascais, traffic cuts will occur between 10 PM Saturday and 4 PM Sunday, affecting Baía de Cascais, Avenida D. Carlos I, and Avenida da República. Some parking lots will also be closed during specific periods.
