In a statement, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) reports that two men, aged 22 and 27, were involved in several violent episodes during this period with people they knew.
In early June, in Faro, the 27-year-old detainee “fired two pistol shots at the feet” of a victim. Days later, both detainees, in collaboration with another person, kidnapped another victim.
“At the time, the 27-year-old detainee, armed with a pistol, and the 22-year-old, with a knife, ordered the victim to hand over their clothes, mobile phones, and bank card,” the statement reads, adding that the victim managed to escape but was shot in the hip.
In another episode in August in Faro, the older detainee and another man approached the 22-year-old detainee, “kicked and stoned him, after which they took 200 euros he was carrying and his electric scooter,” according to the note.
Also on an August night in Faro, the 22-year-old detainee stabbed a person in the abdomen and rib cage, then sought him out the next day and “beat him again on the head, face, and limbs.”
After being approached by the police in the early hours of the following day, the younger suspect sought out the 27-year-old detainee and stabbed him several times in the chest and abdomen, the MP adds.
The men were arrested based on detention warrants issued by the director of the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of the Faro District.
The suspects were placed in preventive detention following the request of the on-duty public prosecutor, with the investigation being carried out by the Judicial Police.
