The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) provided an update early Friday evening regarding the fire in the parking lot in Prior Velho, Lisbon.
According to a source from the authority, shortly before 9 PM, the site contains “many dozens” or perhaps “more than a hundred” vehicles.
Hugo Santos, an ANEPC official, told reporters at the scene that there are gasoline, electric, and diesel cars present.
“The fuel from the vehicles alone, combined with all the materials used in vehicle construction, makes this a complex fire,” he stated.
Emphasizing during the situation report that this is an “extremely complex” fire, ANEPC also notes that weather conditions are requiring “additional effort” from firefighters, who are arriving from 17 different fire departments.
