Paredes de Coura Festival adds 100,000 people and returns on August 13, 2025

The Paredes de Coura Festival will return to the Minho town that gives it its name between August 13 and 16, 2025, after having welcomed 100,000 people to the Taboão River Beach this year, the organization announced today.

André 3000, Killer Mike, L’Impératrice, Sampha, Cat Power, Girl in Red, IDLES, Glass Beams and Slow J were some of the musicians who played at the amphitheater of the 30th edition of the festival, which today, the last day of the line-up, includes Fontaines D.C., The Jesus and Mary Chain, Slowdive and Baxter Dury.

“It’s the repetition of a successful formula, whether it’s the hiring of artists, the musical curation of the festival, or the conditions,” said the festival’s director, João Carvalho, in statements to Lusa, days before the start of the event in the district of Viana do Castelo.

Sextile, Protomartyr, Model/Actriz, Beach Fossils, Samuel Úria accompanied by Milhanas, Joy (Anonymous), Nouvelle Vague and Valter Lobo were some of the other artists who appeared on the banks of the river Coura, as well as the voices of Lika, MaZela and Silentide.

The program for the 30th edition of the Vodafone Paredes de Coura Festival included the presentation of the book “Paraíso de Coura”, which brings together images taken by photographer Alfredo Cunha at the festival, which takes place every summer.

The festival was first held in 1993 on the initiative of a group of friends, including the current mayor of Paredes de Coura, who wanted to organize an event dedicated to independent rock.
