Searches relating to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann 16 years ago began today at 8am at the Arade dam in Silves, Faro district, involving dozens of officers.
The searches are being conducted by the Judicial Police and accompanied by German and British authorities.
Dozens of journalists from various countries are on the scene following the police investigation into the case of the disappearance 16 years ago of Maddie McCann in Praia da Luz in Lagos.
The media apparatus of the case that 16 years ago, in 2007, involved the media all over the world is today concentrated in the Arade basin, about 50 km from the place where the English girl, who was three years old at the time, disappeared.
