It’s all thanks to easyJet’s new route, linking Funchal to the Swiss city of Basel. Discover images of this culturally rich region and plan your next trip now.
British low-cost airline easyJet has announced 13 new routes since Monday June 5. One of these will link Madeira to Switzerland twice a week, all year round. It will start on December 9. The cost of a round trip is less than 100 euros.
If you wish to travel from Cristiano Ronaldo airport to the Swiss city of Basel on Saturday December 9 and return on Tuesday December 12, you will pay 68 euros for round-trip tickets with easyJet.
The flight takes four hours. Basel is located in north-western Switzerland, close to the borders with France and Germany. This region is distinguished above all by its culture and its many museums (some forty). It is the country’s third-largest city.
“This is the resumption of a route that ceased to be operated by this company more than three years ago. This is a very important contribution (…) which will encourage the arrival of a greater number of travellers (…) from a country with a large Madeiran community”, points out Eduardo Jesus, Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture and President of the Madeira Promotion Association.
The low-cost airline also inaugurated new routes, including Bristol (England) to Marrakech (Morocco), Paris (France) to Agadir (Morocco) and London (England), and Basel (Switzerland) to Enfidha (Tunisia).
