The British band Blur will return to Portugal in August for a concert at the Kalorama festival in Lisbon, which closes the band’s European tour, after having been at the Primavera Sound Porto festival earlier this month, the organization announced today.
“The Bela Vista Park in Lisbon will host the second edition of MEO Kalorama between August 31 and September 2 with a luxury line-up, now joined by Blur with a new show on the first day of the festival, August 31, on what will be the last date of their European tour,” says the organization, in a statement released today.
The poster for the 2nd Kalorama was declared closed last week, but the first day, in which The Prodigy, Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Blaze, M83, Metronomy, Rita Vian, Scúru Fitchádu and Pongo, among others, will be enhanced with Blur.

Blur closes the 10th Primavera Sound festival in Porto today
The band led by Damon Albarn will perform live at the festival “The Ballad of Darren,” “the band’s first album in eight years, due out July 31.”
The new album “features 10 new songs from the English band that has been able to read the passage of time and stay current since its formation.
Blur are made up of vocalist Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. They emerged in Colchester in 1989 and became one of the main names in ‘britpop’ in the following decade, with themes such as “Girls & Boys”, “Parklife”, “Song 2”, and “End of century”.
The group’s most recent album, “The Magic Whip,” was released in 2015, more than ten years after their previous album, “Think Tank.”
The group’s discography also includes “Modern life is rubbish” (1993), “Parklife” (1994), and the already named “Think Tank” (2003), after which they split up, with each of the musicians pursuing separate paths in and out of music.
They got together again years later for sporadic concerts, including a show in 2009 in Hyde Park, London, commemorating twenty years since the band was founded and later released on DVD.
MEO Kalorama was held for the first time last year, on September 1, 2 and 3, at Parque da Bela Vista, and headlined by the Arctic Monkeys, the duo The Chemical Brothers and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. According to the organization, over the three days, about 112,000 people passed through the festival grounds, of which more than 30% were foreigners.
The festival, organized by the Spanish promoter Last Tour, has in music, sustainability and art its “three fundamental axes”.
The lineup for this year includes, besides the bands performing on the first day, Florence + The Machine, Arcade Fire, Aphex Twin, Foals, The Hives, Siouxsie, Pablo Vittar, Arca, Dino D’Santiago, Belle & Sebastian, Capitão Fausto, Young Fathers, and Baxter Dury.
Tickets for the festival are already on sale and cost 160 euros (three-day pass) and 65 euros (daily ticket).
