– The National Rail Pass for regional trains, worth 49 euros, has already been created and will operate with monthly top-ups, the Ministry of Infrastructure.
At issue is the implementation of a measure included in the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023), following a proposal by the Free Party.
“The National Rail Pass has been created,” an official source from the Ministry of Infrastructure told Lusa, specifying that once the necessary technical and legal issues are guaranteed, the pass “is valid on any Regional train, regardless of origin, destination, and schedule.
The new title, which will cost 49 euros, can be loaded monthly, like any other pass, and it is necessary to be the holder of a CP Customer card, says the same official source, stressing, however, that CP will disclose “soon” the “details and conditions of sale of this pass.
The passes will be available for sale at CP ticket offices and cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts. They can be used in the Regional service without limit, but not for travel on inter-regional and urban trains.
The measure, says the Ministry of Infrastructure, aims to reinforce the “continuous focus on sustainable mobility” and comes at a time when there are several investments directed to the national railway sector.
At the end of February, in response to Lusa, the Ministry of Infrastructure had committed itself to creating the National Rail Pass by the end of June.
