The Regulatory Entity for the Media (ERC) announced today that Sebastião Póvoas, who is a judge counselor, has resigned as president of the Regulatory Council, effective July 1.
The resignation was made in a letter “sent to the president of the Assembly of the Republic”, reads a note sent by ERC.
“The Regulatory Board decided, in a meeting on July 4, to apply paragraph 2 of Article 26 of the ERC Statute, and the functions of the presidency of the institution will now be performed by Francisco Azevedo e Silva,” says the entity.
“The quorum for the functioning of the meetings of the Regulatory Board and the decision-making process will continue to be assured by the three members in office: Francisco Azevedo e Silva, Fátima Resende and João Pedro Figueiredo,” the ERC concludes.
