Is it time to go to University? The deadline for submitting applications for the second phase of the national competition for access to higher education began this Monday, August 26th.
The competition will run until Wednesday of next week, September 4th.
It’s worth remembering that almost 50,000 students secured placement in the 1st phase of the national competition for access to higher education, a number that represents an increase compared to last year, with only 14.3% of candidates not being placed.
Of the 58,301 young people who applied, 49,963 have already secured a place in higher education, 1.1% more compared to the same phase of the competition held last year, despite a slight decrease in the number of applications, according to data provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI).
According to the results of the 1st phase of the competition, released by the Directorate-General for Higher Education, the news couldn’t have been better for the 28,000 students placed in their first choice (56.1%).
The vacancies that were not filled now, the lowest number since 1999, will be put up for competition in the phase that starts today.
If you’re going to apply, know that there are four higher education institutions that have filled all their vacancies. These are the nursing schools of Coimbra, Lisbon and Porto, and ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.
The least sought-after institution was again the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, which was left with 975 available places, followed by the polytechnics of Viseu (416), Guarda (338) and Castelo Branco (318).
From August 26 to September 4, the submission of applications for the 2nd phase of the national competition for access to higher education 2024 takes place.
