Incident Overview
A 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, January 28, on Rua Sobreiro in Matosinhos for domestic violence, as reported by the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) in a statement sent to newsrooms. The suspect, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, verbally abused and threatened his mother and grandmother, with whom he resides. Additionally, he vandalized property within the home.
Victims’ Response
Following the incident, the victims expressed a need to withdraw money from an ATM to leave the house. During this outing, they decided to visit the local police station to report the situation, feeling frightened about returning home, as mentioned in the official statement.
Police Intervention
The Metropolitan Command of the PSP in Porto, through the Matosinhos Police Division, arrived at the residence. There, the man once again confronted his mother in the presence of the police, further verbally abusing and threatening the officers. He was subsequently arrested “in the act” of committing the offenses.
Legal Proceedings
The arrested individual was brought before the competent judicial authority, where a decision was made to impose a restraining order, requiring him to leave the residence and prohibiting any contact with the victim.
