The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) has suspended the activity of 10 local lodgings for lack of safety and hygiene, as part of a nationwide inspection carried out in recent weeks, it was announced today.
In a statement, ASAE said that “215 economic operators were inspected, and 10 local lodgings were suspended for failing to meet safety and hygiene requirements”.
The inspection operation carried out in recent weeks, from the north to the south of the country, mainly targeting local accommodation, preferably in historic areas of cities, also resulted in 34 administrative offenses being filed.
The main infractions detected relate to “failure to comply with the safety requirements applicable to the type of establishment, failure to comply with the requirements relating to compulsory insurance, violation of the rules on identification and advertising of establishments, failure to comply with general requirements and the offer, provision, advertising and intermediation of unregistered or outdated LA establishments,” the same statement said.
ASAE is Portugal’s administrative authority specializing in the areas of food safety and economic inspection.
