According to a source from the Port of Aveiro, the procedure published today in the Official Gazette (DR) “has as its main objective to qualify and enhance this important port infrastructure, as well as to prevent the occurrence of partial flooding that has been observed.”
The source from the Port of Aveiro also stated that the intervention aims to “contribute to improving safety in the circulation of people and vehicles, through the creation of a cycle path, raising the crest of the marginal retention, and installing tide valves.”
Proposals to compete for the tender must be submitted by October 14, and the project has an estimated duration of one year. It will “encompass demolition works, paving, signage, structures, marginal retentions, drainage, electricity and telecommunications networks, landscaping, and fire-fighting network.”
The port infrastructure in question is used by the national long-distance fishing fleet, with several companies from the fishing, processing, freezing, packaging, and distribution sectors located in its surroundings.
