Azores Airlines will have a flight between Ponta Delgada and Faro from June 2024

Azores Airlines, part of the SATA group, will operate twice-weekly flights between the cities of Ponta Delgada and Faro from June 2, 2024, the airline announced today.

“The flights will take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Ponta Delgada at 09:00 and from Faro at 12:25,” Azores Airlines said in a statement, noting that the air link between the two cities will last approximately two hours and 25 minutes.

According to the SATA group airline, the flights between Ponta Delgada and Faro will be operated “on Airbus A320 equipment with capacity for 168 seats”.

With this new flight, Azores Airlines “increases the range of destinations to which it operates in mainland Portugal, adding Faro to the cities of Lisbon and Porto, to which it operates regularly throughout the year”.

The airline pointed out that Faro International Airport, located in the central Algarve, the southernmost region of mainland Portugal, “represents the main gateway for tourists to the region and the second largest external gateway for passengers at national level”.

By investing in the air link between Ponta Delgada and Faro, Azores Airlines intends to “consolidate its position in the national market, expand its route portfolio and increase network connectivity in the Azores”.

This new offer allows, for example, tourists from North America to choose to stay in the Azores or continue their journey to a range of destinations in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto and Faro) and the islands (Madeira) and other European destinations, such as Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona or Bilbao, the airline said.

Azores Airlines is an airline that belongs to the SATA group and whose activity consists of regular air transportation to and from the Azores archipelago.

The company is part of SATA Holding, which also includes SATA Air Açores, founded in 1941, and SATA Aeródromos, which manages four of the five airports in the Azores.

It operates a regular network of destinations between the Azores and North America, Europe and the archipelagos of the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde.
