According to a press release from the Santarém District Command of the PSP (Public Security Police), officers arrested a man in flagrante delicto at 05:40 on Sunday for the crime of domestic violence.
The couple’s son alerted the PSP: “With the help of the couple’s son, who managed to put an end to the suspect’s aggression towards the victim until the police arrived,” the officers “immediately proceeded to arrest the suspect in flagrante delicto.”
The victim required hospital treatment but is not in life-threatening condition.
The suspect was detained at the PSP facilities and was presented today to the investigating judge for a first interrogation at the Santarém Judicial Court, which ordered the preventive detention measure.
