The Public Security Police (PSP) seized dozens of counterfeit items on Tuesday during an inspection operation at Largo Cândidos dos Reis, in Nazaré.
Following suspicions of “the existence of several stalls selling counterfeit material,” the PSP detected a 54-year-old woman who had a stall where she was displaying counterfeit handbags and sunglasses. The items had “references to various registered and renowned brands,” as stated by the PSP in a press release.
“Due to the characteristics presented in terms of labeling, packaging, and poor manufacturing quality, among other relevant aspects and features, the police unit considered there to be well-founded suspicions of violation of the Industrial Property Code, which were admitted by the suspect who, in turn, showed cooperation with the police service,” the statement says.
The officers seized a total of 56 handbags and 30 sunglasses. The seized material was valued at 4,160 euros.
