The Hospital of Espírito Santo in Évora (HESE) announced in a statement sent to Lusa news agency that, during this period, the Multipurpose Emergency Service “will only receive new admissions of patients referred by CODU/INEM, other doctors, or SNS 24” for the specialty of Internal Medicine.
“The situation is due to an incomplete team,” HESE explained, adding that “all professionals are committed to providing the best care, despite the lack of staff.”
The hospital urges the population to contact the SNS 24 support line before going to the hospital, so that people can be guided according to “the degree of severity of their situation.”
According to the statement, “24-hour care is available in Vendas Novas, Montemor-o-Novo, and Estremoz.”
