Faro Airport will have six brand new destinations this summer. Another 12 existing routes will be served by more airlines.
Faro Airport will have 18 new routes this summer, of which six are completely new destinations and 12 are existing routes but now operated by more airlines, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal announced this Tuesday, indicating that there will be a total of 81 routes to 71 destinations.
In a statement, the national airport manager said that the main countries of origin for Faro Airport – the United Kingdom, Ireland and France – will increase their offer of seats compared to summer 2019.
In terms of new routes and growth in strategic markets, ANA highlights the Aarhus-Denmark (Ryanair), Bilbao-Volotea (Spain), Strasbourg-France (Volotea) and Rome-Italy (Ryanair) connections.
In terms of base operations, ANA said Ryanair will add two more aircraft, increasing its fleet from eight to ten, and offer seven new services, two of which will be completely new. In total, the airline will offer 47 routes from Faro.
Easyjet will keep four aircraft at Faro this summer and plans to operate 21 routes, in addition to Transavia France’s daily night stop on the Paris-Orly route.
ANA also recalls that, as part of its strategy to achieve NetZero by 2030 across its network, the first photovoltaic plant at Gago Coutinho Airport, responsible for 30% of energy consumption, will be commissioned in 2022.
“Changes have already been made to the lighting and power supply systems for parked aircraft, the vehicle fleet is being replaced by electric vehicles and the VINCI Airports reforestation program is being developed in several regions of the country,” the airport manager continues.
