A fire that broke out this afternoon in a forest area in the parish of Freixial and Juncal do Campo, in the municipality of Castelo Branco, is being fought by 156 operatives and six airborne means, according to a source of Civil Protection.
There are also 50 vehicles in the field.
According to a source from the Civil Protection Beira Baixa Sub-Regional Command, if the current weather conditions continue, the fire should be under control within an hour.
According to the same source, the fire, in a forest area, which has mobilized eight airborne means to the site, has so far not put houses or people at risk.
The fire alert was given around 6:37 pm and the performance of the aerial means and the vehicles and operational went favorably, helped by the fact that there was no intense wind, said the source of Civil Protection.
