The Sub-Regional Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection for Terras de Trás-os-Montes, João Noel Afonso, told Lusa that the fire “had a strong reignition, with a front being fought with great intensity.”
According to the commander, aerial resources were also “reinforced, with seven aircraft on site, two of which are Spanish.”
Around 3:15 PM, the fire, in an area of scrubland and pine, was being fought by 174 operatives, supported by 56 vehicles.
João Noel Afonso also stated that “there are no settlements or other assets in danger.”
Civil Protection said this morning that the fire was brought under control around 6 AM, although at that time it still mobilized 87 operatives, supported by 37 vehicles.
The alert for the fire was given at 6:10 PM on Saturday in Caçarelos and Anguieira, in the border town of Vimioso, Bragança district.
