The Regional Secretary of Equipment and Infrastructure of the Madeira Regional Government released, this Sunday, a list of regional roads that are closed and/or restricted due to the wildfire that has been burning in the region for four days.
In a statement shared on social media, the Government also highlighted that the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE) warns that the remaining roads should “always be used with great caution.”
It should be noted that, according to the most recent update from the authorities, the fire had three active fronts in the areas of Curral das Freiras and Fajã das Galinhas, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, and in Serra de Água.
Here are the traffic closures:
ER 211 – Between Quebradas (Redondo viewpoint) and Lombinho (Ribeiro Velho) – Ponta Delgada;
ER 105 – Between Porta da Vila and Paúl da Serra;
ER 209 – Between Ribeira da Janela and Paúl da Serra;
ER 105 – Between Encumeada and Paúl da Serra (Lombo do Mouro);
ER 209 – Between Malhadinha and Paúl da Serra;
ER 210 – Between Prazeres and Fonte do Bispo.
Roads with restricted traffic are:
ER 204 – Between the junction with Rua Nova do Canto do Muro and the Funchal inspection center;
ER 204 – Between the junction with Caminho do Palheiro and the junction with Estrada da Camacha;
ER 204 – Between the junction with Rua Urbanização dos Sobreiros and the junction with Rua da Olaria (east side);
ER 204 – On the stretch of the old Airport Road, between kilometers 3+750 and 4+000 in the Cancela area;
ER 204 – Between the junction with Caminho Velho do Jardim do Sol and the junction with Caminho Velho da Azenha;
ER 204 – Between the junction with ER 205 (Estrada Eng. Abel Vieira) and the junction with Caminho da Mãe de Deus;
ER 103 – Between Cabouco (junction with ER 217) and Fajã do Cedro Gordo;
ER 206 – Between the exit of ER 101 (VR1), Gaula junction, and Rua da Urbanização da Lombadinha;
ER 211 – Between Paço da Areia and Quebradas.
