The captaincy of the port of Funchal today issued a strong sea disturbance warning for Madeira’s coastline, which will be in force until 07:00 on Sunday.
The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) forecasts a north/northeast wind for the Madeira archipelago, “moderate to fresh, sometimes very fresh, becoming north/northwest from the evening onwards”.
On the north coast, the waves will be from the north/northwest, rising from one to four meters, while in the south they will be from the west, up to two meters.
On the seafront, visibility will be “good to moderate, sometimes poor in the early morning”.
In view of this situation, the regional maritime authority recommends that boat owners and owners take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
