The project, with an investment of 500 thousand euros, aims to restore the viewpoint and the grotto, put the lake into operation with water recirculation and filtering conditions, rehabilitate the bathrooms, and increase the number of available benches, explained Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues.
The work is expected to last about three months, he added.
“This work is more for relieving the residents than for tourists,” he stated.
The mayor of that municipality in the Porto district emphasized that given the influx of thousands of people to the Jardim do Morro, it is imperative to provide new solutions and conditions.
“Jardim do Morro, especially the sunset, is already one of the most Instagrammable locations,” he remarked.
Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues recalled that in 2017 the space had already been requalified, mainly in its environmental aspect, with the installation of a playground and benches.
The Jardim do Morro, built in 1927, is located at the foot of Serra do Pilar, next to the upper deck of the Luíz I bridge, and has a panoramic view of the historic area of Porto.
