The single digital services portal gov.pt will be launched in September and the application will take place in the first quarter, the Minister of Modernization announced today, adding that a measure limiting the creation of portals in the Public Administration has been approved.
“We will have a citizen’s entry point here, on gov.pt, which will be launched in September and where we will have a set of services that citizens can access,” said the Minister for Youth and Modernization, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, who was speaking at the end of the meeting of the first Council of Ministers dedicated to the Digital Transition and Modernization, which took place today at the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova (Nova FCT), in Almada.
The minister guaranteed that she would not do away with the Tax Authority (AT) website.
“What we have to guarantee is that the citizen enters gov.pt and without realizing it” is having “access to a particular service” of the AT without there being a disruption in access to that service,” she said.
In addition, the citizen will have a reserved area with all the history of the interactions they have had.
As of September, the telephone answering service of the State’s digital services will be available in English.
In addition, “a decree-law was approved today that establishes rules as important as the limitation on creating more portals and more applications in the sphere of Public Administration,” she said.
Margarida Balseiro Lopes argued that it was essential to standardize citizens’ service experience, both on the website and in stores, and to implement the Citizen Card and the Digital Mobile Key (CMD) as “unique authentication methods”.
All this won’t be done “overnight”, but in “several stages”, with September being the launch of the gov.pt portal, which will already have some services included on it, with more being added gradually over time.
