The group 5th Punkada, formed at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Coimbra, will walk in September through European stages and prepares the recording of a new album, revealed today the producer Omnichord.
The mini-tour outside Portugal is scheduled for the second half of September, passing through the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Luxembourg.
According to Omnichord, these concerts are supported by the Creative Europe program “Musicaire”.
“No matter how much progress has been made in increasing accessibility to attend cultural events, many stages and technical areas are still inaccessible to those with special needs and we must start discussing policies for full artistic participation,” she says.
In addition to those four dates, the 5th Punkada still have concerts scheduled for Paredes de Coura, Coimbra, Figueira da Foz and Lisbon.
The 5.ª Punkada, formed by users of the Cerebral Palsy Association of Coimbra, are preparing to record, in the coming months, the second album of originals, which will succeed “Are we Punks or not?”, Released in 2021 and which gave rise to a tour.
Celebrating 30 years of existence, the 5th Punkada have already given more than three hundred concerts, between Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Greece or Finland.
The story of 5.ª Punkada, made with musicians with special needs, has already inspired a photography book by Valter Vinagre, a documentary by Telmo Soares, and was recognized this year with an award from the association Acesso Cultura, which distinguishes good practices in the area of cultural accessibility.
This year, 5.ª Punkada also performed with Coldplay on the last of four nights of the British band at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra.
