Os Cara de Espelho, Orquestra Gulbenkian and Expresso Transatlântico are part of the June program at Teatro Municipal da Covilhã (TMC), which begins the month with Teatro de Marionetas do Porto.
The Gulbenkian Orchestra presents the concert “Musical Journey through Europe” at the concert hall on the 14th at 9:30 p.m., under the direction of conductor Cesário Costa and with the collaboration of harpist Beatriz Cortesão.
Glière, Prokofiev, Ravel and Rossini are among the composers selected for the journey through the 19th and 20th centuries.
The supergroup Cara de Espelho, which brings together members of bands such as Deolinda, Ornatos Violeta, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, A Naifa, Señoritas and Humanos, will take to the stage on the 8th at 9.30pm to unveil their first album.
On June 29, it’s the turn of the trio Expresso Transatlântico to make their debut in Covilhã, also at 9:30 p.m., to the sound of their album “Ressaca bailada”.
“With Gaspar Varela on Portuguese guitar, Sebastião Varela on electric guitar and Rafael Matos on drums, the band musically illustrates their experiences in a cosmopolitan and multicultural Lisbon, making the Portuguese guitar the main character of their songs,” the TMC said in a statement.
The June program begins with Teatro de Marionetas do Porto and “Como um carrossel”, on the 1st at 16:00.
The TMC said that on July 6, the hall will host Beatriz Valentim’s dance show “What’s a problem?”.
The concert hall also recalled that on November 8, the British Tindersticks will perform in Covilhã and on December 5 the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Tickets go on sale from Tuesday at 14:30 at the TMC box office and on digital platforms.
