Have you chosen a new umbrella? Thermometers 'split' this Friday

With less than 20 days until summer ends, temperatures are already calling for some protection… and an umbrella in certain regions.

According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the maximum temperatures for this Friday should reach 28°C in the Algarve region, where Faro is also expected to have clear skies.

In Alentejo, which is usually the hottest region in the country, thermometers will drop a bit, reaching 26°C in Évora and Beja, and not exceeding 24°C in Portalegre. Similar to the Algarve, Beja will also have clear skies, unlike the other two Alentejo districts, where it will be slightly cloudy. The same sky should be seen in the capital, with maximum temperatures reaching 23°C.

The North holds the rain that will fall on the mainland. Rain or showers are expected in Braga, Vila Real, and Bragança, with the latter region being the most ‘extreme’ and where it will feel colder – here, temperatures will range between 7°C and 20°C.

But rain is not destined only for the mainland, as it should also fall in the Azores archipelago, with Horta and Ponta Delgada recording the highest temperatures in the region at 26°C.

In the Madeira archipelago, rain is not expected, but rather a partially cloudy sky: with Funchal recording 27°C and Porto Santo 26°C.
