For this Saturday, according to IPMA, there is an orange warning (the second most severe on a three-level scale) for the districts of Portalegre, Évora, and Beja, with the forecast of “persistence of very high maximum temperature values.”
Seven other districts are under yellow warning today, the least severe – Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Setúbal, and Faro – due to the “persistence of high maximum temperature values,” indicated the institute responsible for the national meteorological service.
Much of the northern and central interior of the country continues today at maximum risk of fire, as well as the Algarve municipalities of Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Tavira, according to IPMA.
For Sunday, nine of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal are under yellow warning: Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja, and Faro.
On Monday, seven districts see the yellow warning extended: Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora, Beja, and Faro.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the north coast, mountainous regions, and south coast are under orange warning today, a situation that extends until Monday, except for the north coast, which will change to yellow warning from Sunday night until Monday, while Porto Santo is under yellow warning between this Saturday and Monday.
In the Azores, the heat has determined a yellow warning between today and Sunday for the Western, Central, and Eastern groups of the archipelago.
The yellow warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation, while the orange warning is issued whenever there is a moderate to high-risk meteorological situation.
